GODHEADSCOPE now available through The End Records

Posted on July 25th, 2007 by admin

A CITY OUT OF SIGHT is now available through fantastic distributor The End Records (USA). Here’s what they have to say about the new CD:

Some of the darkest and haunting, yet most reflective and beautiful ambient you’ll ever hear. Headed by longtime Dead Raven Choir contributor Matt Rosin (here working as M. Kolophonium), Godheadscope sits comfortably alongside artists like Arvo Part, Lycia, Robert Rich and Vidna Obmana.

Stylus Magazine reviews A CITY OUT OF SIGHT: B+!

Posted on July 16th, 2007 by admin

Stylus Magazine just published Cosmo Lee’s joint review of GODHEADSCOPE’s “A CITY OUT OF SIGHT” and Caina’s “Mourner.” It’s very good news, and it’s an honor to be paired with Caina, whom I respect tremendously.

Check it out:

The review even mentions the new track “MEDUSA IN THE CISTERN” (planned for the split with Stroszek and currently streaming on MySpace), calling it “the best thing Michael Nyman never wrote.”

Today is a good day, friends!

GODHEADSCOPE / STROSZEK split

Posted on July 15th, 2007 by admin

GODHEADSCOPE will follow up its first CD, A CITY OUT OF SIGHT (just released by God is Myth Records), with a split album with Italian dark acoustic project STROSZEK. STROSZEK is led by Claudio Alcara, also of black metallers FROSTMOON ECLIPSE and dark ambient group AERE AETERNUS.

GODHEADSCOPE’s material for the split is finished, save for a few electric guitar contributions by Alcara. GODHEADSCOPE’s contributions include: PATIENCE, SOLIDARITY, MEDUSA IN THE CISTERN and THE SCREAMING MOUND. (PATIENCE and MEDUSA IN THE CISTERN are currently streaming on GODHEADSCOPE’s MySpace page).

More info to follow regarding release/label details.

Learning through composition

Posted on July 12th, 2007 by admin

Embrace, relish and cultivate surprise. Never presume you know at the outset what a work in progress “should” sound like. You will always be wrong — or else the composition will be crap.

Never release crap.

So long as you are loyal to surprise, learn from it, and follow it wherever it leads faithfully and without flinching, quality control takes care of itself.

Recent session work released

Posted on July 8th, 2007 by admin

I recently performed vocal percussion on a new song by truly gifted experimental composer Vincent Bergeron. The song, entitled “Je m’imaginais,” is now released on Vincent’s new CD, Philosophie Fantasmagorique. Check out a few sound samples from the album on Vincent’s Myspace page. Do yourself a favor and delve into his amazing work.
